Today, former Cedar Falls Mayor Jon Crews endorsed Monica Vernon’s campaign for Congress. Crews is the longest serving Mayor in the history of Cedar Falls. Retiring just last year, Crews served as Mayor for 30 years.
“I’m proud to stand with Monica Vernon in her campaign for Congress,” said Crews. “I know Monica will take her years of experience as a community leader to really fight for middle-class Iowa families. Working in local government as long as I have you recognize who will actually roll up their sleeves and get things done – and that’s exactly what I know Monica will do in Congress.”
“I’m honored to receive Jon’s endorsement,” said Monica Vernon. “We both believe the same thing – all Iowans should have access to economic opportunity and a fair shot at success. In Congress, I’ll work to make a fairer economy and bring good paying jobs home to northeast Iowa and I will always protect the promise of Social Security and Medicare that people have earned.”
Monica Vernon is a working mom who raised three daughters while building a small business. She’s been endorsed by dozens of labor unions including the Iowa State AFL-CIO. She’s running for Congress in Iowa’s 1st district to build an economy that’s fairer for middle class families, increase access and opportunity to education, and to protect the promise of Social Security and Medicare we’ve earned with every paycheck.
