Today, the Communications Workers of America (CWA) announced their endorsement of Monica Vernon’s campaign for Congress, joining a growing list of elected officials, Iowa labor unions, and hardworking Iowans that support Vernon’s candidacy. CWA represents workers in a range of industries including telecommunications companies like Windstream and CenturyLink, and workers at the Cedar Rapids and Waterloo Public Libraries, nurses and education workers here in Iowa’s 1st District.

“We’re proud to announce our endorsement of Monica Vernon,” said Steve Abbott, President of the CWA Iowa State Council. “We represent Iowans who keep us connected. Monica understands the challenges our workers face every day. She’ll make sure we have access to affordable health care, fair wages, and good paying jobs right here in Iowa.”

“We’ve got to get to work rebuilding an economy that works for all of us,” said Monica Vernon. CWA represents hardworking Iowans who drive our economy. They work hard to keep us going and have earned the opportunity to get ahead and stay ahead.

Communications Workers of America (CWA) is the largest communications and media labor union in the United States, representing about 700,000 members in both the private and public sectors. Iowa is in CWA District 7 which includes over one hundred and seventy local unions.

Monica Vernon is a working mom who raised three daughters while building a small business. She’s been endorsed by dozens of labor unions including the Iowa State AFL-CIO. She’s running for Congress in Iowa’s 1st district to build an economy that’s fairer for middle class families, increase access and opportunity to education, and to protect the promise of Social Security and Medicare we’ve earned with every paycheck.
